For test and design engineers

Aerospace prototyping and tooling in flame retardant and high-temp materials.

3D printing aerospace test articles, mounts and tooling is only useful when someone can show the part matches the model. CETS prints in Flame Retardant, High Temp, Nylon 11 CF and ESD materials, then scans the finished part against your CAD and sends the deviation report with it.

Built for test programs

What a test engineer gets back.

Deviation report

The finished part scanned against your CAD on the Revopoint MetroY Ultra CMM Edition: a colour map of the whole surface and a written record of the features you called out.

Materials with a data sheet

Flame Retardant, High Temp, Nylon 11 CF and ESD, each a Formlabs material with a published technical data sheet sent with the quote.

Identity on every part

Part number, revision letter and material lot on the record, and marked on the part where geometry allows, so the article on the rig is never confused with the one in the drawer.

Quoted in one business day

Prototypes and test articles in 3 to 5 working days from an approved file. Tell us the test date and we plan the print and the scan to it.

CETS handles 3D printing aerospace test articles and tooling for test and design engineers: wind tunnel models, instrumentation mounts, drill guides and check fixtures, layup tools and masters, ground-support and bench parts, TPU ducting and Nylon 11 CF brackets. Parts print on the Form 4B and the Formlabs Fuse in a material chosen for the failure mode of the test, and every job ships with the material data sheet and a dimensional record, in English or Spanish.

What we make

Aerospace prototyping, from the test rig to the bench.

  • Test articles and wind tunnel models with the mounting interface printed in
  • Instrumentation mounts for sensors, cameras and probes
  • Drill guides and check fixtures marked with part number and revision
  • Layup tools and masters in High Temp for composite work
  • Ground-support and bench parts that replace a machined one-off
  • TPU ducting, bellows and protective covers on the Fuse
  • Nylon 11 CF brackets and mounts where stiffness and weight both count

Materials

Flame Retardant, High Temp, Nylon 11 CF and ESD.

Most aerospace 3D printing requests come down to four materials. Each is a Formlabs material with a published technical data sheet, so the numbers your engineer needs are on the table before the print starts.

  • Flame Retardant Resin for interior, enclosure and connector parts with a flammability requirement
  • High Temp Resin for parts near heat, hot air and short autoclave cycles, and for layup tools
  • Nylon 11 CF on the Formlabs Fuse for stiff, light brackets and mounts
  • ESD Resin for avionics bench fixtures, trays and handling aids

Verification

Does the part match the model? The scan answers.

Every aerospace part CETS ships can be scanned against its own CAD on the Revopoint MetroY Ultra CMM Edition, single-frame accuracy up to 0.015 mm*, and delivered with a CAD-to-scan deviation report: a colour map of where the surface sits against the model and a written record of the features you called out. The report answers the question with numbers, not with a bench check.

Documentation on every job: part number, revision letter, the material data sheet and the dimensional record. CETS operates to an ISO 9001 roadmap: controlled part numbering, revision control, material traceability by lot, and a written dimensional inspection record on every job.

Formlabs customer material

Printed models in the test section.

The wind tunnel image on this page is Formlabs customer material: a printed scale model on a sting mount in a low speed tunnel. It is shown so you can see the kind of test article CETS prints and verifies. It is not CETS work.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you print a wind tunnel model?

Yes. Send the CAD with the mounting interface and the surface finish you need. Models print on the Form 4B for fine surface detail, or on the Formlabs Fuse in Nylon 12 or Nylon 11 CF where stiffness matters more, and each one can ship with a CAD-to-scan deviation report against your model.

Which material for a part that sits near heat?

High Temp Resin for parts near heat sources, hot air and short autoclave cycles, including layup tools and masters. For a part that has to meet a flammability requirement, Flame Retardant Resin. The technical data sheet for either one goes out with the quote so your engineer checks the numbers before approving.

What documentation comes with the part?

Part number and revision letter, the material data sheet, and a dimensional record; a CAD-to-scan deviation report when the job calls for it. CETS operates to an ISO 9001 roadmap: controlled part numbering, revision control, material traceability by lot, and a written dimensional inspection record on every job. Your supplier qualification forms are completed on request.

Can a printed part fly?

CETS supplies test articles, tooling, mounts and ground-support parts. Whether any printed part is used on an aircraft is the determination of your engineering and quality organisation under your own qualification process. CETS supplies the material data sheet and the dimensional record that process needs to decide.

Send the CAD and the test date.
