Three machines, one engineering shop

Capabilities and technology.

The 3D printing capabilities and the scanner behind every CETS job in Puerto Rico: SLA on the Formlabs Form 4B, SLS on the Formlabs Fuse, and inspection on the Revopoint MetroY Ultra CMM Edition. What each machine is for, and what it hands back to you.

What the floor runs

Two processes and a scanner, chosen by failure mode.

SLA and SLS under one roof

Resin for detail, clarity and biocompatibility. Nylon for load, snap fits and support-free geometry. The design review picks, not the catalogue.

25 micron layers on SLA

Threads, text, thin walls and sealing faces hold on the Form 4B, and the finished part is measured against the model before it ships.

A scanner built for measurement

The MetroY Ultra CMM Edition closes the loop: the part that came off the printer, or off your line, compared with its CAD in colour.

Paperwork with the part

Material data sheet, lot, post-processing record and the dimensional record, filed under your part number and revision.

The 3D printing capabilities at CETS are built around two Formlabs processes and one scanner, run by the same engineers who review the design and sign the inspection. This page is for the quality or design engineer who wants to know what the shop actually runs before sending a regulated or tight-tolerance job: which machine, which materials, what it measures and what comes back with the part.

A Formlabs Form 4B SLA printer with a finished resin part on the build platform

SLA resin

Formlabs Form 4B.

The stereolithography printer for the parts where the detail is the point: gauges, sealing faces, clear housings and anything that has to touch a patient.

  • Fine features. Threads, text, thin walls and small bores that SLS powder cannot resolve.
  • 25 micron layers. Surfaces that need little finishing and edges that stay sharp.
  • Biocompatible BioMed resins. Printed with the data sheet, lot and post-processing record your validation needs.
  • Clear parts. Flow paths, light guides and housings you can see through.
A Formlabs Fuse SLS printer with a nylon part lifted from the powder

SLS nylon

Formlabs Fuse.

The selective laser sintering printer for parts that take load and go into service: brackets, housings, clips, ducts and short production runs, with no support structures to remove.

  • Support-free geometry. The powder bed holds the part, so internal channels, lattices and nested assemblies print as one piece.
  • Nylon 12. The general-purpose engineering nylon for functional parts and low volume production.
  • Nylon 11 CF. Carbon fibre filled nylon for stiffness where a bracket or a fixture would otherwise flex.
  • TPU. Flexible parts, seals, grips and living hinges that bend without breaking.

3D scanning

Revopoint MetroY Ultra CMM Edition.

A handheld blue-light scanner that Revopoint describes as a Metrology Scanner. The CMM Edition adds a ball plate and Revo Measure software to the standard scanner, which is what turns a scan into an inspection and a mesh into a model you can rebuild in CAD.

Scanner capabilities

Twelve jobs the scanner does, in three groups.

Every one of these starts with a part on the bench or on your line and ends with a file under your part number: a report, a model or a record.

Scan and inspect

The part measured against its model, with a report the quality department can sign.

  • Metrology 3D scanning and dimensional inspection
  • CAD-to-scan comparison and deviation analysis
  • Dimensional verification of fabricated components
  • Identification of wear, deformation and dimensional discrepancies
  • Fit-up and clearance verification

Scan to CAD

From a part with no file to a parametric model you own and a replacement you can make.

  • Reverse engineering of obsolete or undocumented parts
  • Scan-to-CAD and parametric model development
  • Development of replacement-part geometry
  • Prototype and product-development support
  • Preparation of models for fabrication and 3D printing

Document and archive

The state of a critical component, captured today and filed under your part number.

  • Existing-condition documentation
  • Digital archiving of critical components

Engineering first

One shop designs it, checks it and makes it.

  • Design review before anything prints: material, orientation, tolerances and how the part will fail.
  • Scan verification after: the finished part measured against the model on the MetroY Ultra, with a written record.
  • A drawing and the CAD you own, so the next order is a reorder, not a second engineering job.
  • Design and build, or reverse engineer and build, under one roof, in Puerto Rico and for the US mainland.

CETS serves Puerto Rico and the US mainland, with international service available.

FAQ

Common questions

Which machine will my part run on?

We decide at design review, from the failure mode and the feature size. Fine detail, clear parts and anything that touches a patient go to SLA on the Form 4B. Load-bearing, snap-fit and support-free geometry goes to SLS nylon on the Formlabs Fuse. The quote names the process, the material and the data sheet before anything prints.

Do you print biocompatible parts?

Yes. The Form 4B runs the Formlabs BioMed resin family, and every biocompatible job ships with the material data sheet, the lot and the post-processing record your validation asks for. See the biocompatible family on the materials page for the resins stocked.

Can I send a part for scanning only?

Yes. Scanning and inspection is quoted as its own line on the MetroY Ultra CMM Edition, for parts made anywhere. You receive the deviation report, the dimensional table and the mesh, and can add the CAD rebuild or the replacement part later if you need them.

Tell us what the part has to do.

Send a file, a photo or the part itself. The quote names the machine, the material and the date, and comes back in one business day.

Inquire now

Send us a plan. We’ll 3D print it for you.

A drawing, a CAD file or a photo of the part is enough to start. We reply with a written quote in one business day.
