Form 4B, biocompatible resins included

SLA resin parts, designed or reverse engineered here, printed here.

An SLA 3D printing service inside an engineering shop. The part is designed here, or scanned and rebuilt here, then printed in the resin that matches how it will be used: rigid, tough, clear, high temperature or biocompatible. One quote, one drawing, one shop responsible for the result.

Why SLA here

The resin part, with the engineering that makes it right.

Fine features, held

Threads, text, thin walls and small holes print sharp at 25 micron layers, and the critical ones are measured before the part ships.

Data sheet with the quote

Every resin is a Formlabs resin with a published technical data sheet, so your quality group reads the numbers, not our description of them.

Biocompatible resins

BioMed resins on the Form 4B for skin and tissue contact applications, with the biocompatibility documentation Formlabs publishes for each one.

Start from a part, not only a file

No CAD? The part is scanned, the model is rebuilt and you own it, then it prints. Design and reverse engineering are the same shop as the printer.

CETS runs an SLA 3D printing service in Puerto Rico on the Formlabs Form 4B, for design and manufacturing engineers who need a resin part that holds a dimension, a surface finish or a biocompatibility requirement. Stereolithography cures liquid resin with a laser, layer by layer, and gives the sharpest features and the smoothest surfaces of any additive process we run. Ten resin families cover rigid, tough, general purpose, high temperature, clear, flame retardant, ESD safe, elastomeric, silicone and biocompatible work.

An SLA printing service that only prints leaves the design review, the orientation call and the verification to you. Here they are part of the job: the part is reviewed before it prints, oriented so support marks land on faces that do not matter, and measured against the model after. When the part exists but the file does not, reverse engineering rebuilds the CAD first; when the design is still moving, rapid prototyping turns each revision in 3 to 5 working days.

This is resin 3D printing in Puerto Rico done for engineers: the Form 4B, engineering and biocompatible resins, 25 micron layers, and a design review before anything prints.

What SLA is for

The parts that want resin, not powder.

  • Fine features: threads, engraved text, thin walls and small holes that fused nylon cannot resolve
  • Smooth surfaces, close to a moulded finish straight off the printer, paintable and platable
  • Clear parts that show flow, fill and internal channels, polishable to near optical clarity
  • Biocompatible BioMed resins on the Form 4B for skin and tissue contact applications
  • 25 micron layers where the surface or the fit demands it, coarser layers where speed matters more
  • Patterns and masters for casting, silicone moulding and vacuum forming

Resin families

Ten families, chosen by how the part will fail.

Each row links to the family on the materials page, where the specific resins are listed. The technical data sheet for the exact resin travels with every quote.

Medical and dental

Biocompatible work, with the paperwork attached.

Biocompatible resin work runs on the Form 4B: surgical guides, dental models and splints, device prototypes for design review, and contact parts for fixtures in a regulated plant. Resin lots are recorded per job, the Formlabs biocompatibility documentation ships with the quote, and the dimensional record is written, not remembered.

Regulatory determination for your device stays with your quality and regulatory team. CETS supplies the part, the material documentation and the dimensional record they need to make it.

Engineering first

One shop designs it, checks it and makes it.

  • Design review before anything prints: material, orientation, tolerances and how the part will fail.
  • Scan verification after: the finished part measured against the model on the MetroY Ultra, with a written record.
  • A drawing and the CAD you own, so the next order is a reorder, not a second engineering job.
  • Design and build, or reverse engineer and build, under one roof, in Puerto Rico and for the US mainland.

CETS serves Puerto Rico and the US mainland, with international service available.

FAQ

Common questions

When is SLA the right process for my part?

SLA cures liquid resin with a laser, layer by layer, down to 25 microns on the Form 4B. It is the right process when the part needs fine features, a smooth surface, optical clarity, or a biocompatible resin. When the part has to survive impact in service with no support marks, SLS nylon is usually the better fit, and we say so on the quote.

Which biocompatible resins do you print?

BioMed Clear and BioMed Durable on the Form 4B, formulated for skin and tissue contact applications, with the biocompatibility documentation Formlabs publishes for each resin sent with the quote. What that means for your specific device depends on its classification and your own validation.

Can you print from a physical part instead of a CAD file?

Yes. The part is scanned on the Revopoint MetroY Ultra CMM Edition, the CAD is rebuilt and you own it, then the SLA part is printed here. Reverse engineering runs 5 to 10 working days; printed prototypes from a file run 3 to 5 working days.

How are SLA parts finished before they ship?

Every part is washed, post-cured and has its supports removed. Support contact points are placed on non-critical faces at design review, and clear parts can be polished for near optical clarity. Critical dimensions are verified by scan and written down before the part leaves.

Send the part. We will tell you the resin, the orientation and the date.

A CAD file, a drawing or a photo of the part is enough to start. The written quote arrives in one business day, with the data sheet for the resin we recommend.
