Fixture design and manufacturing

Fixture design for the tooling nobody sells.

Alignment jigs, assembly fixtures, go and no go gauges, drill guides, handling trays and guards. Designed around the operator who uses it every shift, then manufactured here, so revision two costs almost nothing.

Why design fixtures with us

Tooling that pays for itself in a shift.

Start from a photo

No drawing needed. Send a picture of the station and a sentence about what goes wrong, and we come back with an approach and a number.

Days instead of weeks

A printed fixture costs a fraction of a machined one and arrives in days, so the line is not waiting on a machine shop queue.

Revision two costs almost nothing

If the first version needs a change, there is no tooling to redo. We edit the model and print it again.

Marked, numbered and yours

Every fixture carries a part number and a revision letter, and leaves with its CAD file so you can reorder anywhere.

CETS provides fixture design, fixture manufacturing and engineering design services to production lines across Puerto Rico. Most jobs solve a specific problem on a specific station: custom jigs for a part that keeps locating wrong, an assembly step that takes too long, a check that needs a gauge instead of a caliper, or a pinch point that needs a guard. We design it around the operator, build it here on the Form 4B or the Formlabs Fuse, and hand you the CAD.

Start anywhere

You do not need a drawing to start.

  • A sketch. We turn it into a modelled, dimensioned part and quote it before anything is cut.
  • A station that is slow. We watch what the operator does, then design the fixture that removes the step.
  • A part that scraps too often. Usually a locating problem. A gauge or a nest fixes it cheaper than a process change.
  • An existing fixture that broke. We reverse engineer it and improve the section that failed.

What we build

Jig and fixture manufacturing, by type.

TypeWhat it doesUsual material
Assembly jigHolds two parts in the right relationship while they are joinedTough 2000
Locating nestPuts the part in the same place every time, so the operator cannot get it wrongNylon 12
Go / no go gaugeChecks a dimension in one second without a caliperRigid 10K
Check fixture, verified by scanHolds the part for an in process check; the fixture itself is measured against its model on the MetroY Ultra before it ships, with a written deviation recordRigid 10K
Drill and cut guidePositions the tool against a curved or awkward surfaceRigid 10K
Handling trayMoves delicate parts between stations without contact damageNylon 12
Guard or shroudCovers a pinch point or keeps splash off an operatorTough 2000

Materials by name and property are on the materials page.

The design stays yours.

CAD drawing services are part of the job, not an extra. Every fixture we design leaves with its CAD file and a drawing, marked with a part number and a revision letter, so the one on the line and the one in the drawer are never confused.

  • STEP and native CAD delivered with every fixture
  • Part number and revision marked on the part where geometry allows
  • Reorder the same revision or revise it, any time

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need a drawing to start a fixture design?

No. Most fixture design jobs start with a phone call and a photo of the station where the problem is. We turn that into a modelled, dimensioned part and quote it before anything is cut.

How much cheaper is a printed fixture than a machined one?

A printed fixture typically costs a fraction of a machined equivalent and arrives in days instead of weeks. The bigger saving is on revisions: version two costs almost nothing because there is no tooling to redo.

Can you design the part as well as manufacture it?

Yes. Design and fixture manufacturing run in the same shop, so there is no handoff between the person who designs and the person who builds.

Who owns the fixture design?

You do. Every fixture leaves with its CAD file, marked with a part number and a revision letter, so you can reorder or revise it anywhere.

Tell us about the station that keeps causing trouble.

A photo of the bench and a sentence about what goes wrong is enough for us to come back with an approach and a number.
